Join acclaimed author and educator Jeff Kass for a two-day, generative workshop with innovative writing exercises. In this age of AI slop and doomscrolling through short-form videos, learn how to slow down and excavate the powerful stories residing both inside us and in the environment around us. On the first day, the workshop will also be followed by an instructor and participant reading at 2:30 p.m., open to the public. Everyone high-school-aged and up, and of any writing-experience level, is welcome.

The price of participation for each workshop is $10. (Ideally, take both for $20!)

About Jeff

Recently retired after teaching tenth-grade English and creative writing at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, for 32 years, Jeff Kass is the poetry editor and community literary arts coordinator at Dzanc Books. He’s the author of Knuckleheads, named Independent Publishers Best Short Fiction Collection of 2011, as well as three full-length poetry collections, including My Beautiful Hook-nosed Beauty Queen Strut Wave and Teacher/Pizza Guy, a 2020 Michigan Notable Book and Finalist for the Midwest Book Award. He is currently a featured poetry instructor with the Michigan Learning Channel, has taught poetry classes and workshops to thousands of students, and is a recipient of a prestigious 2023 Jack Hazard Fellowship for writers who teach in public schools. His newest poetry collection, True Believer, consists of poems that spin around and through Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
