“Grief has never been private; it has always been communal.” —Francis Weller
Led by Marisa Collins, this is a 90-minute somatic, community grief ritual guided by music and movement prompts. The somatic practice is intentionally gentle, and curiosity-driven. By connecting with love at the heart of our grief, we allow our bodies a safe entry point to find expansion, gently inviting stored emotion to release and metabolize through our systems.
The invitation is to expand our definitions of grief by exploring how our bodies want to express themselves, apart from the narrative mind. We will explore how it feels to follow our body’s relationship to emotion. Is it possible to access pleasure within our experiences? Can we befriend and dance with our sacred expressions of grief?
Experience what it feels like to emote with movement, allowing the unexpected to arrive and gently listening to what our bodies have to say. We are all intuitive, creative, expressive, and wild. You are welcome in your entirety in this practice, to be lovingly witnessed so you may find more freedom within yourself.
Please wear comfy clothes, and bring a water bottle and a journal. There will be time for reflection.
The price of participation is on a $20–$40 sliding scale.
