In this class led by Kate Gamble, we will explore the deep connection between language and the body. Through poetry, spoken word, and personal mantras, we’ll attune to how words resonate within us—how they move through our nervous systems and leave traces of meaning, memory, and emotion. Language, when fully felt, has the power to heal us from within.

What does it mean to feel language? Beyond speaking and listening, we also experience words physically—through sensation, breath, and emotion. This somatic approach to language invites us to engage with both our delightful and difficult stories in a new, embodied way. By doing so, we can develop tools that support our natural capacity for resilience and restoration.

We’ll begin by cultivating safety through gentle, embodied meditation and then follow what arises using simple somatic practices and breathwork. There will be space to share poetry, phrases, and reflections, witness each other’s stories, and offer support within a compassionate and respectful community.

No prior experience with somatics is required.

The price of participation is $20–$35, on a sliding scale.

About Kate

Kate Gamble, BFA, MSPT, is a somatic educator, movement practitioner, and founder of Open Door Integrative Wellness. Trained in physical therapy at the Mayo Clinic and with a background as a professional dancer and choreographer, she has spent more than 30 years exploring how the body speaks—through movement, sensation, held stories, and relationship. Her somatic work draws from embodied mindfulness, the Feldenkrais Method, Bartenieff Fundamentals, Body-Mind Centering®, the Alexander Technique, and somatic approaches to trauma. Kate brings these diverse perspectives together with a deep curiosity about movement and embodiment as a way of listening, knowing, and connecting. Through workshops, retreats, and individual work, she invites people to become more attuned to themselves and discover greater resilience, creativity, and possibility in how they live and relate.
